Precognition

In theory, precognition can manifest in many ways and be as random as seeing a scene in your mind in great detail like a photo reel or video clip (ie: you see a 'video' of a boy walking down the street with a red balloon who trips and falls into a puddle next to a mail box and a car swerves out of the way, and the next day or next week you see the scene play out in real life in front of you as if you dreamed it into existence).
Great seers such as Edgar Cayce saw things many years in advance. In fact, he predicted many events that occurred even AFTER his own lifetime - after his own death.
Abraham Lincoln was famous for his interest in psychics and had a psychic advisor during his presidency (he also held seances in the White house). Lincoln had a foreboding the Day before his assassination of his own death and saw the funeral procession for him in the white house beforehand in a vivid dream that he recorded in his personal journal.
